Chocolate which hepls you lose weight by actually burning calories as you eat it ? It sounds wonderful．
But unfortunately , for anyone who spent ￡ 37 on a 40-day supply of Slim Choc, the idea is nothing more than daydream．

The OFT yesterday warned consumers about the adverts for Slim-Choc, which were contained in junk mail sent to thousands of homes acorss Britain．
The company chaimed that eating the “slimming chocolate”could help users lose 20lbs in just 20 days, without exercising or cutting back on food．
The tricks claimed this was a “brand new revolutionary cure for the overweight”,and it was “the first and only cholcolate that burns off fat”． Thousands were persuaded to pay ￡ 37 for a 40-day supply．
Alice Tuff, of the Sense About Science charity, said :“The emotional and financial costs for the people who get drawn in can be huge and it is very important that we keep promoting public vigilance（警惕）in dealing with this serious problem．”

The coast of the State of Maine is one of the most irregular in the world. A straight line running from the southernmost coastal city to the northernmost coastal city would measure about 225 miles. If you followed the
coastline between these points, you would travel more than ten times as far. This irregularity is the result of what is called a drowned coastline. The term comes from the glacial（冰川的）activity of the Ice Age. At that time, the whole area that is now Maine was part of a mountain range that towered above the sea. But the best part of the island is the unspoiled forest land known as Acadia National Park. Since the island sits on the border between two different geographical zones, the park supports the plants and animals of both zones. It also lies in a major bird migration lane and is a resting spot for many birds.
The establishment of Acadia National park in 1916 means that this natural monument will be preserved and that it will be available to all people, not just the wealthy. Visitors to Acadia may receive nature instruction from the park naturalists as well as enjoy camping, hiking, cycling, and boating. Why are people interested in eating raw foods or whole foods? One reason is that eating these types of food reduces the risk of acid(酸) accumulation in your body．

Processed foods contain chemical elements, which might confuse the appetite mechanism that tells us when we’ve had enough to eat; as a result, people often overeat．Processed foods also upset the digestive cycle．The body will either identify these foods as allergens and then store them safely away from the organs as fat, or the remains of undigested food will become acidic and enter the bloodstream as acid waste, which will stick to the blood vessel walls and block the passage of vital oxygen and nutrients heading for the body’s cells．The body’s metabolism(新陈代谢)becomes inactive, and the result is weight gain and obesity．
The accumulation of acid in the digestive tract makes digestion increasingly inefficient．When that happens, even healthy foods can become acidic and the food allergies will become more common．
