Looking down, I immediately recognized that something was wrong, and ran down to the edge of the near bank. There I saw Ma Shwe with her three month old calf struggling in the fast rising water, and it was a life-anddeath struggle. Her calf was floating and screaming with fear. Ma Shwe was as near to the far bank as she could get, holding her whole body against the rushing water, and keeping the calf pressed against her huge body. Every now and then the rushing water would sweep the calf away. There was a sudden rise in the water and the calf was washed clean over the mother's body and was gone. Ma Shwe turned quickly to reach it and pressed the calf with her head and trunk against the rocky bank. Then with a huge effort, she picked it up in her trunk and tried until she was able to place it on a narrow shelf of rock. Just at this moment, she fell back into the river. If she were carried down, it would be certain death. I knew, as well as she did, that there was one spot where she could get up the bank, but it was on the other side from where she had put her calf. While I was wondering what I could do next, I heard the sound of a mother's love. Ma Shwe had crossed the river and got up the bank and was making her way back as fast as she could, roaring all the time, but to her calf it was music. 56. The moment the author got down to the river bank he saw______. A. the calf was about to fall into the river B. Ma Shwe was placing the calf on the rock C. the calf was washed away by the rising water D. Ma Shwe was holding the calf against the rushing water 57. How did Ma Shwe manage to save her calf from the fast-flowing water? A. By putting it on a safe spot B. By pressing it against her body C. By taking it away with her D. By carrying it on her back 58. How did the calf feel about the mother elephant’s roaring? A. It was a great comfort B. It was a sign of danger C. It was a call for help D. It was a musical note 59. What can be the best title for the text? A. A Mother’s Love B. A Brave Act C. A Deadly River D. A Matter of Life and Death B A long weekend is a great opportunity to do something a little different. Many people use a long weekend for a getaway, a short trip to leave the stress of their everyday lives behind and explore, learn, or relax. Hotel Romance Many hotels and resorts feature something special to start the getaway, such as champagne, flowers, or a fruit basket in the room on arrival. Getaway packages usually include a room with something special, a heart shaped bed, for example. Additional benefits could be room service meals or other private dining, plus tickets or discounts for local attractions. Visit a Spa Spa getaways can take place at a location that focuses only on spa services or at a hotel that offers a spa as one of its features. Some spas emphasize treatments fit for their geographic area or a local attraction. A spa in a grape growing region might provide grape juice masks, or a hotel near a hot spring could offer mineral baths. Most spas offer a range of massage, health and beauty treatments, so a spa getaway can be relaxing with other benefits. Learn a Skill A long weekend may not be enough time to become an expert at something new, but it provides a way for people to begin their explorations. Some organizations offer intensive courses that last two or three days. People with special interests can get away from their routines while learning such things as how to make beer, speak a new language, or take better photos. Help Others Some organizations cooperate with businesses to have accommodations (住宿) and activities for short-term volunteers. Most volunteer vacations involve ecology friendly or charity activities. A volunteer getaway is a way to relieve stress and help others at the same time. Stay in a National Park For those who want to relax in a rural environment, a national park fits the bill. Most national parks provide camping areas for tents and trailers. Several have cabins (小屋) within the parks available to rent. A getaway to a national park provides privacy, stress relief, and the time to get to know some important natural resources. 60. The underlined word getaway in this passage most probably means . A. exploration B. location C. vacation D. activity 61. It can be learned from the text that . A. spas are offered in the tourist attractions all over the country B. intensive courses of some organizations help people get away from home C. helping others at weekend makes people feel free and relaxed D. people may get close to nature in a national park 62. Which of the following can be rented in a national park? A. Cabins. B. Trailers. C. Camping area. D. Privacy. 63. The best title of the passage can be . A. Away from Our Busy Work B. Good Ways to Relieve Stress C. Enjoy Life and Help Others D. Long Weekend Getaway Ideas C As a disabled person, I often feel I have two jobs. There's my normal job working as a radio producer and there’s my role managing a team of carers (otherwise called personal assistants). Of the two jobs, being a radio producer is considerably easier. One of the hardest aspects of being a PA employer and needing 24-hour care is that you never feel “off duty”. At any time a PA could present me with an issue or concern that needs handling. There was an occasion when a previous PA came into my bedroom one morning to get me up and began complaining straight away that I had paid her the wrong amount that week. Another former PA once called me on a Saturday evening to ask if she could book some annual leave. Once the booking is confirmed, the worry about not having a carer at all is replaced by concern over who the carer is. My agency tries very hard to send me carers who’ve helped me before, but obviously if you book agency care at short notice you just have to accept whoever is available. When an agency sends me a carer who is new to me, I have to explain my needs from scratch. Of course, no organisation is never wrong and care agencies are no exception. When an agency makes a mistake and a carer fails to turn up, the impact on my life can be frustrating and distressing. It might mean I’m unable to get up in the morning and am stuck in bed for hours staring at the ceiling, waiting for a carer to arrive. It might mean I’m late for work or have to miss an appointment. Fortunately, over the last decade I’ve seen a considerable improvement in the quality of service care agencies provide. Most of the time, I’m pleased to say, the agencies I use are caring, organised and reliable. When a home PA is off sick, life can be stressful but when a work PA is ill, the consequences can be more serious. At home it doesn’t matter if tasks don’t get done or take longer because the agency carer is less experienced at helping me than my permanent PAs. The only person affected is myself. However, at work I have to meet deadlines and if I don’t do my job properly, then not only will it create extra problems for my colleagues but it could also affect the quality of the programme I'm working on. Luckily, I employ two full-time permanent PAs so when one is absent I usually still have the other one with me. On a normal day the work PAs share out the hours equally between them. Covering a PA’s sickness not only creates practical problems, it can also be a financial headache. Agency care is expensive. For this reason, a PA who doesn’t need much sick leave is worth her weight in gold. 64. The passage is mainly about __________________. A. social relation B. housework and work C. social care D. sickness and treatment 65. Being a PA employer, the author feels she is always “on duty” because____________. A. she takes up two jobs---- working as radio producer and managing a team of carers. B. some employees are either less experienced or considerably lazy. C. she has to get up early in the morning and go to bed late at night. D. a personal assistant may bring much trouble to her anytime. 66. What does the author think of the service of the care agencies? A. The quality of service care agencies offer has improved a lot. B. Her care agencies never make any mistakes. C. Her care agencies take good care of her. D. The service her care agencies provide needs considerable improvement. 67. Why can the consequences be more serious when a work PA is ill? A. Because a work PA is less efficient than a home PA. B. Because the author’s poor work has an effect on her colleagues with no care. C. Because on a normal day a work PA has much important work to do. D. Because the absence of a PA can cause financial problems. D Over the past summer, many young Chinese students reportedly downloaded and watched online courses given by top universities from the US and UK. Many people welcome this as a new form of acquiring knowledge, while some see this as an opportunity to learn from these top-ranked universities without paying the high fee. By talking to some Chinese friends who enjoyed those online courses, I find that what they like about those courses is largely the free, interactive and humorous atmosphere in American university classes. Some Chinese professors, especially young ones, have already taken steps to reform course structure, provide more class discussion and adopt various evaluations rather than one final examination to determine students’ grades. However, the Chinese tradition of staying serious in the classroom remains the same. In some cases, the teacher just reads out the text directly from the textbook for the whole class period. I cannot agree more with those who attend these free online courses. Online courses offered by western universities will probably change the tradition of how the Chinese students learn things. However, these free courses cannot offer everything taught by those Western universities. Young Chinese can learn the methods and subjects, but there will always be a gap between watching it online and experiencing it in person. From my experience studying in the US, the most valuable lessons I have learned were not in class. My best source of learning was the motivation and encouragement from my classmates and friends—questioning and arguing about theories and ideas. Or it was through my professor’s help during the one-on-one office hours. The most important experiences cannot be copied by watching a course through the computer screen. A latest report from the Community College Research Center at Columbia University suggests it isn’t necessarily the online method that helps students learn more. In fact, it is the qualitative values that matter—the learning environment, the interactive atmosphere, and the instruction and motivation from professors and classmates. These values are immeasurable and they are lost in translation with those digital courses. Online courses are only a new method of learning and consumption; the missing ingredient (要素)from these online courses—the qualitative values of learning—still lie within the university itself. 68. The author finds that online courses offered by western universities are popular among Chinese students mainly because of __________. A. their qualitative values of evaluation B. the personal experiences C. the good reputation of the universities D. the good atmosphere of learning 69. According to the passage, which of the following statements is true? A. Qualitative values of learning are well reflected in the online courses. B. A latest report from Columbia University shows that traditional classroom teaching plays no role in helping students. C. The author disagrees with the idea that online courses will benefit the Chinese students. D. Western universities often adopt diverse and flexible teaching methods. 70. What will be the best title of the passage? A. Online courses offer a lesson in western teaching methods. B. Online courses bring an end to traditional courses in China. C. Online courses are a short cut to experience life in foreign countries. D. Online courses provide an opportunity for western students to learn about China. 第二节 根据短文内容选择最佳选项填在空白处,有两个选项是多余选项。(共5小题,每小题2分,满分10分) Many people have the ability to truly care and receive joy when caring from the heart. Yet even very caring people sometimes find themselves using caring as a form of control. 71________________. Ask yourself these questions: Was there some part of me that was trying to control what the other person thought of me? Was I behaving in a caring way to get attention, approval, trust or love? Was there a part of me hoping that my caring would result in gaining money? 72________________. You might receive approval or money for the moment, but something will always seem to be missing from your life. And it will never bring you the deep joy that results when caring from the heart with no agenda or attachment to outcomes. When we are caring from the heart, we become, as Mother Teresa said, “God’s pencil.” We are giving to others just for the sake of expressing what is most beautiful about life—caring about each other. 73_______________. We can be caring purely for the joy of it only when we are taking 100% responsibility for ourselves—for thinking and behaving in ways that lead to inner safety and a deep sense of self- worth. When we are not caring about ourselves, then we will secretly be trying to get this from others. 74________________. In fact, others may even become resistant to receiving our caring because it feels controlling to them—and it is. It is in primary relationships with mates, children, and parents, that our giving to get has the most negative consequences. No one likes to be controlled by others. So when you give with an agenda, you may encounter anger and /or withdrawal. Your loved ones might not even know why they are angry or withdrawn. They just know that something feels bad inside them when you are “caring” about them. 75_______________. A. Calm down and explore a way to bring joy to others. B. Giving to others from an open heart fills their souls with joy. C. Others may appreciate your caring and learn to give in return. D. Others will pick up the “giving to get” energy and may not feel our “caring.” E. Take a moment right now to think about a situation today in which you were caring F. While caring as a form of control may seem to work at times, it will never bring you joy. G. If others are not responsive, you might want to honestly look at your intention in being caring. 班级____________ 姓名______________ 实验中学高三英语综合训练(一)答 题 卡 1. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗 6. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗 11.〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗 16. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗 2. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗 7. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗 12.〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗 17. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗 3. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗 8. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗 13.〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗 18. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗 4. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗 9. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗 14.〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗 19. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗 5. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗 10. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗 15.〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗 20. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗 21. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 26. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 31.〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 36. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 22. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 27. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 32.〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 37. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 23. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 28. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 33.〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 38. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 24. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 29. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 34.〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 39. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 25. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 30. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 35.〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 40. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 41. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 46. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 51.〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 56. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 42. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 47. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 52.〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 57. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 43. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 48. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 53.〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 58. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 44. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 49. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 54.〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 59. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 45. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 50. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 55.〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 60. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 61. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 66. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 71.〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗〖E〗〖F〗〖G〗 62. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 67. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 72.〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗〖E〗〖F〗〖G〗 63. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 68. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 73.〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗〖E〗〖F〗〖G〗 64. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 69. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 74.〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗〖E〗〖F〗〖G〗 65. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 70. 〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗 75.〖A〗〖B〗〖C〗〖D〗〖E〗〖F〗〖G〗 第一节:短文改错(共10小题;每小题1分,满分10分) We all know some of our classmates copy others’ homework instead of doing it by their own. On the one hand, they do so because they have too many homework, some of that is beyond them. On other hand, some of the students are so lazily that they are not interested in their lessons at all. They didn’t work hard and have to copy others’ homework just to finish the assignments and pleasing their teachers and parents. In my opinion, it’s dishonest of them to copy others’ homework, but it is against the school rules. What’s more, copying others’ homework means cheating themselves. I love the shirt very much, whose color, red, is my favourite. What’ more, it is just a perfect fit on me. Every time I wear it, I’ll think of you. I’m getting along well with my study these days. Last week I had a wonderful birthday party together with my classmates. We had a good time enjoying the delicious food my mother prepared for us. It reminded me of the happy days we spent together last summer. How are you getting on in England? I miss you so much that I hope you can come to China as soon as possible. I’m looking forward to our reply. Yours, Lihua 版权所有:高考资源网(www.ks5u.com)
