2013重庆市高考英语(阅读理解)二轮训练12及答案 When I met him, I had a lot of anger inside of me. I’ve lived my whole life in Spanish Harlem, but in my neighborhood, there are shoot-ups all the time. I know kids who have been shot or beaten up. I have friends who ended up in prison. I could have ended up that way, too, but Mr. Clark wouldn’t let that happen. Mr. Clark worked long hours, making sure I did my work. My grades rose. In fact, the scores of our whole class rose. One day, he took our class to see The Phantom of the Opera, and it was the first time some kids had ever been out of Harlem. Before the show, he treated us to dinner at a restaurant and taught us not to talk with our mouths full. We did not want to let him down. Mr. Clark was selected as Disney’s 2000 Teacher of the Year. He said he would draw three names out of a hat; those students would go with him to Los Angeles to get the award. But when the time came to draw names, Mr. Clark said, “You’re all going.” On graduation day, there were a lot of tears. We didn’t want his class to end. In 2001, he moved to Atlanta, but he always kept in touch. He started giving lectures about education, and wrote a bestselling book based on his classroom rules, The Essential 55. In 2003, Mr. Clark took some of us on a trip to South Africa to deliver school supplies and visit orphanages (孤儿院). It was the most amazing experience of my life. It’s now my dream to one day start a group of women’s clubs, helping people from all backgrounds. 60. Without Mr. Clark, the writer . A. might have been put into prison B. might not have won the prize C. might have joined a women’s club D. might not have moved to Atlanta 61. How many students’ names were finally drawn out of a hat by Mr. Clark? A. None B. Three C. Fifty-five. D. All. 62. In the passage, the writer intends to tell us that . A. Mr. Clark went to South Africa because he liked traveling B. Mr. Clark helped to set up a group of women’s clubs C. a good teacher can help raise his or her students’ scores D. a good teacher has a good influence on his or her students 60、AAD *********************************************************结束 B They’re WILD animals! By Ernst-Ulrich Franzen March 11, 2010 |(3) COMMENTS The story about the woman who lost some fingers while feeding a bear at a zoo in Manitowoc, after she ignored warnings and barriers, reminded me of the story I heard about a couple who put their baby on the back of a wild horse in South Dakota to get a really cute picture. We all do silly things at times — no one is immune(免疫的) — but treating wild animals as lovely pets has to fall into a special category. Teddy bears and Disney movies aren’t actually representative of real bears. Comments (3) View Comments ? Post a Comment 1. TosaLeft - Mar 11, 2010 10:46 AM Don’t you think that maybe, just maybe some alcohol was involved? 2. tk421 - Mar 11, 2010 11:09 AM It was already approved that alcohol was involved. Stories that begin with a drunk person saying “Hey, I got an idea, watch this!” rarely end well. 3. Tristan Kloss - Mar 11, 2010 11:41 AM Alcohol certainly isn’t involved when people decide to keep “pets” like chimpanzees, baby tigers, etc. Stupidity, definitely. Dogs are pets because of thousands of years of domestication(驯养). Even farm animals, which have been kept by humans for thousands of years as well, aren’t let in the house. So why keep animals that treat human contact with, at best, indifference and, at worst, violence? 59. In Ernst-Ulrich Franzen’s opinion, the woman lost her fingers because ________. A. the zoo keepers didn’t warn her of the danger B. she didn’t know the bear was a wild animal C. she was somehow influenced by cartoon characters D. she climbed over the barriers and angered the bear 60. TosaLeft thinks the wounded woman ________. A. may have been drunk B. may be a little stupid C. was addicted to wine D. fed wine to the bear 61. tk421 means a drunk person ________. A. should be forbidden to enter the zoo B. always gets himself into trouble C. is often fond of making up stories D. usually likes to show himself off 62. What does Tristan Kloss think of people treating wild animals as pets? A. Kind. B. Illegal C. Loving D. Stupid 参考答案 59—62、CABD ******************************************************结束 ( C ) Being thirteen has certain problems that only another thirteen-year-old would understand. The biggest, I think , is learning to get along well with adults. I have found that when dealing with grown-ups, it is wise to remember two things: Always use your head. Never use your head. For instance, one day just before supper, my mother sent me to the store for a loaf of whole-wheat bread. They didn’t have any. When I told my mother, she said, “Well, what kind did you get? “ I told her I didn’t get any. She looked as if I had just announced that I was leaving home for good. “ For goodness’ sake, ” she said, “ if they didn’t have whole-wheat, you should have got something else!” Why don’t you use your head?” Not long after that, she sent me to the store for red oilcloth. They didn’t have any, so I bought seven yards of purple, I thought it was pretty. Mother didn’t . She said,” Who ever heard of purple oilcloth in a red kitchen?” I told her I was only trying to use my head. She said, “ Well, don’t! And in the future, if you can’t get what I send you for, don’t get anything.” See what I mean? There are other things that seem a little strange, too. If my father goes out for the evening, he tells me to “ look after” my mother and sister. But, if the family goes out, and I want to stay home, my father won’t let me. He doesn’t feel comfortable if I am home alone. That means I am old enough to “ look after’ my mother and sister but not old enough to “look after” myself! Another problem is what to do when you trip over the cat and land with your head in the refrigerator, causing a large lump to appear just over the right eyebrow. In this case, your father could feel free to explode with a few choice words. “ Your sister could shed enough tears to dampen the whole room. Your mother could, and probably would, do both. But you? You are thirteen and can’t do anything! You are too young to curse, and “ big boys” don’t cry. ” So you just stand there looking more stupid than usual. But in spite of all this, I still think thirteen is a wonderful age! 62.The main idea of the selection is that _______. A. young children are annoying. B. being thirteen involves too many responsibilities. C. a thirteen-year-old boy is the sun of the family. D. thirteen-year-olds have special problems. 63. The author says the biggest problem is ______. A. learning how to use one’s head. B. assuming responsibilities. C. showing you can be trusted. D. learning how to get along with grown-ups. 64. The author thinks that his father should allow him to _______. A. go shopping by himself. B. stay at home alone. C. look after the family. D. use his head. 65. The author complains that there is no acceptable way for a thirteen-year-old boy to ________. A. prevent his sister from crying . B. act when he is in the kitchen. C. avoid tripping over the cat. D. behave when he hurts himself. 66. The main idea is illustrated chiefly by ______. A. experiences that happened to the author’s friends. B. imaginary experiences of a typical thirteen-year-old. C. incidents from the author’s own experience. D. wonderful experiences characteristic of a thirteen-year-old. 62---66、/DDBDC *********************************************************结束 C Cafe Hub Next to the Castle lies The Hub, home of the Edinburgh International Festival and one of the most talked about spots in town.
